Pawlympics | Saturday, Sept. 17

This new event will combine elements of the New World Games and strength competitions throughout the day and evening on Saturday. These games promote healthy competition and the opportunity for anyone to jump in and participate. Think perpetual RECESS! The second half of the day will include a scheduled game of Boffer Capture the Flag and various strength competitions.

Field Events

9 a.m.-8 p.m.
The Field will open for MoonBall, Perpetual Flag Tag and various other games.

MoonBall :This game combines volleyball with giant exercise balls. This game starts with 10 players on each side of the net holding a physio ball. The game is played just like volleyball but instead of using your hands you will be keeping the ball in the air using only the physio balls. Strategy, dynamic movement and uncontrollable laughter will be in full force! This game is ongoing and anyone can jump in and play if a ball is available.

Perpetual Flag Tag: Various games of flag tag will be ongoing throughout the morning and afternoon.

1:30- 3 p.m.
Boffer Flag Tag: Get a team together and come join me for this classic game, played with boffing swords!

Pawlympics Strength Games

3:30-4 p.m.
Tire Flip: This test of strength will combine endurance and raw strength. Competitors will see how quickly they can flip a giant tire for a determined distance in the shortest amount of time. PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR THE WINNING TIME.

3:45-4:15 p.m.
Keg Toss:
Competitors will throw an empty keg for distance. The distance is marked from where the keg initially lands. PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR THE LONGEST DISTANCE.

Stick Wrestling: This ancient game of strategy and strength may have originated in the camps of the earliest Vikings. You and a fellow competitor will enter a ring, both will clasp a stick and will try to force the other person out of the ring or to get them to let go of the stick. This event is fast paced and highly physical. This is a round robin style of competition with winners staying on and the losing person moving on.PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR THE LAST PERSON STANDING.

5:30-6:15 p.m.
Stump Wrestling:
Embrace your Appalachian Warrior! Two people face one another. Each person is on a stump. Now try to push the other person off. It may seem simple but this is a game that allows for strategy and quickness. This competition proves the largest human will not always be the one that prevails. Round Robin style competition with the winner staying on. PRIZES AWARDED FOR THE LAST STUMP WARRIOR LEFT.

6:30-7:15 p.m.
Black Locust Post Carry: Competitors will carry a giant locust post for a determined distance in the shortest amount of time. The post must be carried on the back. This one requires focus and raw strength. PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED FOR QUICKEST TIME.

All the games and strength events will be led by Jamie Betit, CPT Movement Specialist and owner/operator of Functional Integrated Fitness ( F.I.T.).
